Rainer Schwemmer has studied physics at the University of Heidelberg and specialized in High Energy Physics detector design and construction. He is currently an Applied Physicist at CERN, responsible for the upgrade of the Data Acquisition System of the LHCb Experiment. His previous work includes the design and construction of high speed networks, custom ASIC and FPGA boards for data read-out, control systems and optical data transmission with custom made optical links. Currently he works on the planning and provisioning of real-time compute resources which includes the construction and layout of a new data center for LHCb.
